“I used to believe something was wrong with me.”
Connecting with other highly sensitive people changed everything.

Before embracing her sensitivity, Ayana recalls, “I used to believe something was wrong with me.”
Growing up, Ayana often felt like she was missing vital information that would allow her to feel more accepted. As an adolescent, she would often wonder why she picked up on things that other people rarely appeared to notice. By her late teens, overstimulated and chronically exhausted from trying so hard not to be sensitive, Ayana began to suspect trying not to be sensitive was considerably impacting her mental and physical health.
As an undergraduate studying psychology, Ayana particularly enjoyed learning about neurodiversity. Eventually, connecting with other highly sensitive people changed everything. Hearing their stories, she no longer felt alone and afraid of her sensitivity. She found immense freedom when she realized that the parts of herself she had previously rejected were profoundly connected with the parts of herself she already—though, sometimes secretly—loved.
Thanks to lots of practice, patience, and encouragement, Ayana has come to appreciate her sensitivity. This self-love journey has allowed Ayana to co-create a far more expansive life than she ever imagined possible for herself. On her path, she continues to explore various approaches to wellness within and beyond her graduate program in Integrative Health. Her mission is to support other highly sensitive people ready to embrace their authenticity and reconnect with intuition.
